Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this is not true. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. Her early ambition was to dance however a rapid growth rate meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. As I got bigger than my male counterparts, I gave up. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for school's annual play. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Her career spans twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions, both on big screens as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was as Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
